Section X Sports Roundup: Soccer Scores & Results — September 2, 2026

Seven official games. Seven shutouts. And the first full night of the 2026 Section X fall sports season is in the books.

Defense ruled the night Wednesday as girls and boys soccer action picked up across the North Country.

Three of the four girls games were decided by a single goal, including tournament victories for Hermon-DeKalb and Ogdensburg Free Academy. Chateaugay also opened with a 1-0 road win at Chazy, while Franklin Academy battled Northern Adirondack in its second game of the Cougar Classic.

On the boys side, Parishville-Hopkinton, Northeastern Clinton and Massena all opened with shutout victories.

Here's what happened around Section X.

GIRLS SOCCER

Hermon-DeKalb 1, Heuvelton 0

It was a tale of two halves in the opening round of the OFA Tournament.

Heuvelton controlled much of the action during the first half, creating several scoring opportunities and earning multiple corner kicks. The Bulldogs couldn't find the finishing touch, however, and the teams went into halftime scoreless.

Hermon-DeKalb came out of the break with a different look.

The Demons made adjustments at halftime and began controlling the action, generating several opportunities of their own. Heuvelton goalkeeper Ava Blackburn came up with some big saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game as HD continued to apply pressure.

Eventually, the Demons broke through.

Maya Green connected for the game's only goal, putting Hermon-DeKalb ahead 1-0.

That was all the Demons needed. HD held off Heuvelton the rest of the way to secure the shutout and advance in the OFA Tournament.

Ogdensburg Free Academy 1, Morristown 0

One goal was all the Blue Devils needed Wednesday night.

OFA earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Morristown in the opening round of its home tournament, punching its ticket to Saturday's championship game.

Amya scored the game's lone goal, with Carlee picking up the assist, and the Blue Devils made the advantage stand the rest of the way.

The victory also made for a memorable night for OFA's seniors, who celebrated their final first home game with a win.

OFA will now turn its attention to Saturday, when the Blue Devils will attempt to defend their tournament title and make it back-to-back championships.

Northern Adirondack 1, Malone 0

Franklin Academy's second game of the Cougar Classic was a much tighter affair, but the Huskies came up one goal short against Northern Adirondack.

The Bobcats earned a 1-0 victory over Malone, handing the Huskies their second loss in as many days.

Malone had opened the 2026 season Tuesday against host Northeastern Clinton, falling 5-0 before returning to the pitch Wednesday against NAC.

This time, only a single goal separated the teams.

Chateaugay 1, Chazy 0

Chateaugay opened its 2026 campaign with a road victory Wednesday, shutting out Chazy 1-0.

Mya McComb provided the difference for the Bulldogs, scoring Chateaugay's lone goal of the night. Irelynn LaPlante picked up the assist.

At the other end of the field, Ava Staples turned away all six shots she faced to record the shutout and preserve the one-goal victory.

It wasn't a high-scoring opener, but the Bulldogs only needed one.

BOYS SOCCER

Parishville-Hopkinton 3, Madrid-Waddington 0

Parishville-Hopkinton opened its 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Madrid-Waddington.

The Panthers put three on the board while keeping the Yellow Jackets off the scoresheet to earn their first win and first shutout of the new campaign.

Northeastern Clinton 6, Salmon River 0

Salmon River faced a tough opening test against Northeastern Clinton on Wednesday night.

The visiting Cougars produced the biggest offensive output of the day's seven official games, defeating the Shamrocks 6-0 at Stadium Turf Field.

Salmon River will look to bounce back as its early-season schedule continues.

Massena 2, Potsdam 0

A pair of second-half goals made the difference Wednesday night as Massena earned a 2-0 road victory over Potsdam.

Neither side could break through during the opening 40 minutes, sending the game into halftime scoreless.

That changed in the 50th minute.

Chandler Jacobs broke the deadlock to put the Raiders ahead 1-0.

Massena didn't wait long to strike again.

Just a few minutes later, Elijah Morgan connected on a long-range shot to double the Raiders' advantage and give Massena some breathing room.

Potsdam couldn't find an answer, and the Raiders protected the lead the rest of the way to secure the shutout and begin their 2026 season with a victory.

Seven Games. Seven Shutouts.

If opening night provided any indication of what's ahead, goals aren't going to come easily in Section X this fall.

Every official game involving a Section X team Wednesday ended in a shutout.

The four girls winners — Hermon-DeKalb, OFA, Northern Adirondack and Chateaugay — combined to allow zero goals, with three of the four games ending 1-0.

The boys followed suit.

Parishville-Hopkinton blanked Madrid-Waddington 3-0, Northeastern Clinton defeated Salmon River 6-0 and Massena shut out Potsdam 2-0.

Across all seven games, the winning teams combined to outscore their opponents 15-0.
