The weather looked more like football season than softball season Tuesday night in Heuvelton. Temperatures hovered in the low 40s, cold rain pounded the field, hail briefly bounced off the dugout roofs, and a short rain delay only added to the chaos. But once the game resumed, the Bulldogs brought the thunder. Heuvelton rolled past Morristown 15-0 to clinch at least a share of the West Division regular-season title behind a dominant no-hit performance from Jude Spooner. Morristown threatened early despite the brutal conditions. The Rockets nearly pushed across a first-inning run before the Bulldogs slammed the door shut with a perfectly executed rundown at the plate. Aydan Mitchell applied the tag to end the threat and ignite the Heuvelton dugout. From there, it became the Jude Spooner show. Spooner was electric in the cold and rain, firing a complete-game no-hitter while striking out 11 Rockets. He mixed velocity and command all night, overpowering hitters even as rain continued to fall and wind whipped across the diamond. The Bulldogs wasted little time giving their ace support. Levi Biller started the scoring by dropping a single into left-center, bringing home Parker Felt for a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Ryder Liscum ripped a shot over the third-base bag and down the left-field line, allowing Biller to trot home and make it 2-0. The bats kept rolling. Spooner helped his own cause with a laser to left-center that plated Liscum. Ryley Liscum followed with an RBI single to center, and Lyshawn Young punched a ball right back up the middle to score another run. Larry Young added an RBI of his own as the Bulldogs quickly built a 6-0 advantage. Then came the second inning avalanche. Heuvelton poured on four more runs in the frame while the Rockets struggled to slow the momentum in miserable playing conditions. Even with rain falling sideways at times and hail briefly forcing players off the field during a short delay, the Bulldogs stayed locked in from first pitch to final out. By the end of the night, soaked uniforms, muddy cleats, and freezing temperatures didn鈥檛 matter much to the Bulldogs. A division title was within reach, and Heuvelton played like a team determined to take it.
