Deposit-Hancock entered the semifinal playing its best softball of the season and wasted little time showing why. The Eagles struck for five runs in the first inning, capitalizing on timely hits and aggressive baserunning to seize momentum immediately. Kadyn Appley delivered the game's first run-scoring hit, while Haley Begeal added a two-run single during the opening barrage. Leah Braun chipped in with an RBI double as the Eagles quickly built a lead. For St. Lawrence Central, the early deficit was a difficult one to overcome against Deposit-Hancock ace Aubrey Smith. Smith was dominant in the circle from start to finish. The Eagles' right-hander struck out nine batters over five innings and allowed just two hits, consistently staying ahead in the count and preventing the Larries from generating offensive momentum. This group battled through the regular season, survived the pressure of sectional play, and represented Section X with pride throughout the postseason. The loss may sting today. That's because expectations had grown. That's because this team believed. That's because they earned the right to dream about playing for a state title.
