For a few innings, the Section X Class C Softball Championship looked like it might become a back-and-forth battle. Then St. Lawrence Central took complete control. After weathering an early challenge from Tupper Lake, the Larries unleashed an offensive avalanche, combining aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, power at the plate, and stellar defense to roll past the LumberJacks 19-4 and capture the Section X Class C Championship. Tupper Lake struck first in the opening inning when Kiana Boudreau found herself caught in a rundown but somehow managed to evade the tag long enough to score, giving the LumberJacks an early 1-0 advantage. St. Lawrence Central answered immediately. Jade Bejjani delivered a clutch single that brought home Audrey Ann Sweet, tying the game at 1-1. While the Larries left the bases loaded in the inning, they continued to put pressure on the LumberJacks' defense and showed signs that a breakout inning was coming. In the following frame, St. Lawrence Central capitalized on another opportunity. Bejjani came around to score on a throw to first following a strikeout, helping the Larries build a 4-1 lead despite again leaving runners stranded on the bases. Those missed opportunities briefly kept Tupper Lake within striking distance. The LumberJacks fought back in the middle innings when Lila Robillard dropped a single into center field, allowing Alyssa Pickering to score. Moments later, Isabel Tessier-Day punched a ground ball through the right side to drive home Chloe Hyde and trim the deficit to 4-3. At that point, the championship game still hung in the balance. It wouldn't stay that way for long. St. Lawrence Central finally found the breakthrough it had been threatening all afternoon. What followed was a relentless offensive surge that completely changed the complexion of the game. The Larries scored runs in virtually every way imaginable, using perfectly executed small ball, extra-base hits, aggressive baserunning, and timely power hitting to overwhelm the LumberJacks. Over the next four innings, St. Lawrence Central outscored Tupper Lake 15-1, turning a one-run game into a championship celebration. Just as impressive as the offense was the defense behind it. While the bats grabbed the headlines, the Larries' center fielder repeatedly took away scoring opportunities with a series of outstanding diving catches in the outfield. Those highlight-reel plays helped extinguish any hopes of a Tupper Lake comeback and provided the defensive spark that complemented the offensive explosion. By the time the final out was recorded, St. Lawrence Central had completed one of the most dominant championship performances of the Section X postseason. The 19-4 victory secured the Section X Class C Championship and showcased the complete package that makes the Larries such a dangerous team heading into the next stage of the postseason. After a competitive start, St. Lawrence Central proved too much to handle.
